Scientific Program
This Joint
Discussion will be held over one and a half days on August
17 (afternoon) and August 18, 2006 and will consist of few invited talks, and
oral and poster contributions. The format of the
meeting will allow for plenty of opportunities for
discussion and interactions between the
participants. We expect about 50 to 100
participants.
The program will concentrate on the following
themes:
-
Galaxies at z > 6
- Interstellar and Intergalactic Medium at z > 6
- Quasars at z > 6
- Observational approaches to z > 6: deep fields, lensing clusters, gamma-ray bursts to probe the early Universe,
search techniques
- Star formation in the early Universe (simulations)
- Feedback mechanisms at high-z at various scales (galactic and IGM)
including galaxy outflows
- Early chemical evolution of the Universe
- Cosmic reionization (simulations, observational constraints)
The invited talks are the following:
- S. Malhotra (STScI, USA): HIGH-z LYMAN-ALPHA EMITTERS
- R. Bouwens (UCSC, USA): LYMAN-BREAK GALAXIES AT z>6
- Y. Taniguchi (Sendai, Japan): SUBARU OBSERVATIONS OF THE HIGH-z UNIVERSE
- R. Pello (OMP, France): HIGH-z LENSED GALAXIES
- A. Songaila (Hawaii, USA) : IGM AND QSO ABSORPTION LINES AT HIGH REDSHIFT
- R. Maiolino (Arcetri, Italy): DUST AT HIGH-z: OBSERVATIONS AND THEORY
- D. Spergel (Princeton, USA): NEW WMAP RESULTS
