Dear Observer,
your observing run is dedicated (or partly dedicated) to follow-up
observation with CORALIE of giant stars that will be selected to
build the reference grid of the
Space Interferometry Mission (SIM).
On the practical point of view, the SIM-GRID catalog number is number 763.
Stars in catalog 763 are metal defficient giant stars for which
we are looking for binarity or unexplained variablities in the velocities.
The observing strategy is to observe all stars in catalog 763 once
within 12 months and make a second set of measurements one year later.
The goal is to achieve an accuracy of at least 50m/s per target but SNR are
already loaded into the catalogs (SNR=15). After data reduction, if you notice that the error
is larger that what is expected, please duplicate the measurement. If the
accuracy is systematicly lower than 50m/s, please increase the exposure time.
An observation will not be validated if the minimum accuracy is not achieved.

ARE WRITTEN IN THE CATALOG !!!!

!!!!! TRY TO GET TARGETS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN OBSERVED YET AND THAT WILL NOT BE OBSERVABLE IN THE COMING WEEKS & MONTHS.
Furthemore, I also ask you to write on the SIM-GRID VR PLOTS
(CORALIE control room, on one of the desks when you observed
a given target, the SNR and any comments such as SB2.
!!!!! PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE SIM-GRID VR PLOTS FROM THE TELESCOPE CONTROL ROOM !!!!
We are currently making observations for epoch 1.

"sim-grid vr plots" on this web page.
At the end of each run, I ask you to send me a summary of the time you spend observing
for the SIM-GRID program. If you have some downtime due to weather, technical problem
please indicate how much time you lost for each night.
