The Colorado red (original color of the car) looks gorgeous from any direction. It is the original tone, which has a lot of yellow in it. The nice thing about it is that it does not show the dust as much as the black interior and cleans a lot faster!

In sun-splashed Tucson, it is quite a challenge to have the right light for digital pictures. In full sun, there is too much shine and in the shadow you need a stand because the exposures are too long. Anyhow, here is a choice of my best shots.

The rebuilt engine runs really smoothly and yet strongly. Idling at 600rpm it is very quiet. Of course, higher in the revs, it roars like you would expect ! Its stainless steel exhaust might cut a few decibels and bother the purist but it certainly makes the longer rides more comfortable (in addition to making the car look better, because the muffler is quite visible from the left hand side of the car)

Of course, when you do a ground-up, the underside of the car ends up looking quite nice too...

The rendering of the Colorado red is not consistent throughout the web site and this is due to several reasons:

  1. Some pictures taken where color prints. I have scanned them to put them on this site.
  2. The use of the flash makes the red look orange and sometime its absence make the paint look too dark…There is definitively something to improve in the color calibration of this camera (Nikon Coolpx 900)
