1.    Rear axle and suspension

1.1    Healey 6-cylinders Socket for Rear axel nut

From: Bill Katz <bkatz_at_handsonresearch.com>

Supposedly at Sears. Part number 47791, 12 point 3/4 drive Craftsman socket. Check out www.sears.com and search for 47791 in their tool area. Don't forget the adapter so it'll fit on your 1/2" drives.

1.2    Fitting the bearings into the diff (TR3?)

From: "Graham Stretch" < technical_at_iwnet.screaming.net >

Having done this a couple of times and not had to use a hammer for more than a gentle tap to regain a square attitude to the housing I would suggest your situation is wrong. Also General engineering principles state that the rotating item should be an interference fit and the stationary item should be a transition fit or tight sliding fit, implying hand pressure to install.

Two interference fits will tend to trap the balls in the races, so that this is a bad situation. I would say that this was either the wrong bearing or a rogue that should have been rejected from the batch. I hope you haven't distorted the housing by driving it in.

1.3    Big healey front suspension bushings

Subject: Re: AH3000 Front Suspension Bushings

I retained the stock rubber bushings (called Metalastic I believe) where the lower control arms mount to the frame, and nylon composite from Denis Welch on the upper trunions.  Street car rides ok, and the race car handles ok. No binding or clunking noise noticed.
