Dans le cadre des travaux pratiques de l'Observatoire, on observe régulièrement quelques comètes et astéroïdes dans le but d'en déterminer les orbites, formes, dimensions et classes minéralogiques. Selon l'actualité, des supernovae peuvent être suivies. Voici la liste des observations récentes ou en phase de réduction. Certains noms d'objets pointent vers une imagette animée; quelques images ou textes sont parfois disponibles. Des images d'autres personnes et observatoires figurent dans la liste, car elles ont également été mesuré par nos soins, en particuliers des observations de préparation d'occultations par des astéroïdes.

Elle est donnée en considérant que, à part les
erreurs grossières et/ou trop grandes par rapport aux résidus
statistiques des images, les catalogues sont exacts. Il s'agit d'une bonne
estimation de la précision interne de l'image et de son analyse.
La premièr colonne concerne la position, et la seconde l'éclat.
Systèmes de coordonnées et de photométrie
Les observations sont réduites à l'aide de catalogues
astrométriques et photométriques particuliers.
Ils ont tous des référentiels et échelles de magnitude
légèrement différents. La première colonne fournit le catalogue astrométrique,
la seconde le photométrique. Sont utilisables:
Co et Cm - codage des observateurs
et mesureurs
Instrumentation, acquisition et prétraitement des images
A Genève, les images
sont prises à l'aide d'une caméra à cécédé
montée au foyer d'un Schmidt-Cassegrain de 8 pouces de diamètre (f/d=10);
l'échelle résultante est d'environ 1599 pixels/degré.
Les pixels actifs pour l'imagerie constituent une zone de 1238x1142 parmi les 1286x1152 pixels du circuit.
Les autres servent à la calibration du signal "nul" qui dérive légèrement
en fonction des variations de température de la chaîne analogique.
La commande de l'obturateur est synchonisée par logiciel sur le battement des secondes
d'un serveur de temps sur le réseau local; ce serveur est radiopiloté,
ce qui garantit des instants à mieux que 0.05s. Les images (zéros, noirs, plats et brutes)
sont traitées par Aplaxxxx.
Programme de réduction
Photo, le logiciel spécialisé dans la réduction des
images fonctionne sur ordinateur personnel (pécé).
Il lit le contenu des images (au format
fit=fits) afin de rechercher par ajustement d'un modèle théorique
le photocentre des étoiles, astéroïdes et comètes, à une fraction
d'élément d'image (pixel) près, pour autant
que le signal ne soit pas noyé dans le bruit. Il permet notamment
la recherche et l'identification automatiques des objets (astéroïdes,
comètes, galaxies, nébuleuses, etc.) qui se trouvent sur
les clichés. La détermination
des constantes de la fonction de transfert image-ciel se fait à
l'aide des étoiles de catalogues astrométriques, généralement
sur cédéroms. Une autre des fonctions intéressantes de ce programme
est la possibilité d'utiliser conjointement des catalogues pas entièrement compatibles;
par exemple prendre le T20 pour les équations d'échelles et d'origine, et prendre le
G13 et/ou le S20 pour déterminer uniquement les échelles
(les origines sont alors flottantes et recalculées...); de cette manière,
même des clichés contenant peu d'étoiles T20 peuvent être réduits avec une
très bonne précision.
Un des sous-produits de l'analyse astrométrique est la photométrie
qui permet, entres autres, la détermination des courbes de rotation des astéroïdes
dont quelques applications sont visibles ici.
Petit exemple montrant que les G1* ne sont pas aptes à la photométrie:
le même cliché est réduit avec le G13
et le T20; l'écart systématique est de 0,34 magnitude.
Exemples montrant la surprenante linéarité des catalogues S20 et G13
et de la caméra utilisée. L'extrapolation des mesures faites avec le T20 vers des éclats plus faibles
est licite pour autant que les barres d'erreur horizontales soient correctement estimées.
Le logiciel Photo sert également à créer des imagettes
pour faire des animations (exemple) qui sont bien pratiques pour
repérer les asteroïdes faibles ou inconnus,
faire de longues poses (par addition de petites) avec compensation numérique des défauts du télescope
et du mouvement rapide des objets.
