This was actually, almost the first step in getting acquainted with the car. It was after all clear from the start that it would need a minimal amount of bodywork done before it could pass successfully the checks at the Swiss MVD (MOT).

It started by the removal of the interior and…oh-oh! Underneath the carpet on the driver side, there was a piece of reinforcing aluminum riveted on top of another layer of carpet. And argh! All of a sudden all that rust that was jumping into my face, that I had not paid attention to when I inspected it!

I slowly came to realize that what the car needed was not a minor patch job but a complete body restoration. That was kind of hard to swallow, all the more since in the mean time, my 1st baby was on his way. Anyhow, one thing was clear, the Healey had to be dismantled to make room for various bodywork operations

Unless you do it, it is hard to imagine haw many boxes, shelves, bags and stickers you need to dismantle a car with the intention of rebuilding it sometime later…
